Bocuse D’Or is contest of cooking. We can call it as the ‘tournament of cuisines’. Five chefs have reached the final. Now let’s see who wins the competition. The Bocuse D’Or competition was founded by the chef Bocuse D’Or in 1987 with a view to enhance public awareness regarding hard work, passion and skills needed for the most delicious dishes. Since then the competition is held once every two years and can be regarded as the most stiff “world tournament” of cuisines.
The contest is held in France and twenty six participants are selected on the basis of short-listing. One team consists of two members, one is the chef himself and the other one is his assistant. Each team is given five and half hours to prepare two dishes comprising sea food and mutton along with garnishing. There are twenty four judges who award marks to each participant.
The basic criteria of judges to evaluate the dishes is the balance of taste in the dish , the presentation or garnishing of the prepared dish and the technical aspect how the recipe is followed and how efficiently they demonstrated team work. People are just crazy about the competition. No silent spectators are there. The fans of their respective teams back up their favorite teams and boost their morale. They come with flags and sing national anthems.
The final moments when the contestants present their platter to the judges crosses the “sound barrier”. The event has a live telecast and photographers take pictures to publish them in newspapers.
